Spicy Wifey Giveaway!

All this month we’re encouraging couples to purposely pay attention to their marriages and our friends over at Spicy Wifey are donating a gift package to help you do so.  We know how important it is to nurture our marriages and oftentimes reliving old memories is a perfect way to enable you to see the person you fell in love with and reignite that spark in your relationship. So, tell us about your spicy spouses. Do you remember your first kiss? How did he propose? Where did you spend your honeymoon? What first attracted to you to your spouse? Briefly tell us about it in the comments section below for a chance to win some Spicy Wifey his and her apparel. The contest starts now and the winner will be randomly chosen on the last day of February.

We’ve been married for 15 years now, but my hubby & I were strictly friends for 4 years first, not just friends, but best friends! He was my guy friend that I would call & talk about the men I was dating here & he had a girlfriend the entire time. He was the first one I called when I was at the hospital when my mom died & we talked on the phone everyday & told each other everything, eventually things progressed to a point of feeling “more” for my friend. We still are the same way today, we share our feelings with each other & he’s still my best friend!

  2. My husband and I met at church. I had noticed him about a year before we actually met. I noticed how he always looked happy while singing during the worship service and I noticed how well he treated his two kids. We finally met when our church needed to move all of the chairs out of the sanctuary after the service one day so that some sound panels could be put up on the walls (apparently the equipment used to do this is very large). Most of the women left immediately after the service was over and a lot of the guys stuck around to help move chairs. I think I was the only woman who stayed to help. I had started babysitting for one couple’s children, and the husband/father introduced me to my future husband on this particular chair-moving day. We started stacking and moving chairs together and ended up staying for about an hour after everyone else had left, just talking and getting to know each other. He was kind of nervous about asking me out because of our age difference (he’s 14 years older than I am) and because he had children from a prior marriage and I’d never been married before. Finally, he asked me out and our first date was my 24th birthday. Our next date was 4 days later, his 38th birthday. He proposed a month later, on Valentine’s day, in a little gazebo on one knee in park downtown and we were married in October of the same year. Our wedding was happy and beautiful, despite my father almost falling over during the service and despite the dry cleaners blowing a hole through my lace sleeve the day before my wedding (they bought me a new dress and a wonderful tailor had it ready to go for me in time for the wedding!). We have been married now just over five years and we’ve definitely had our challenges, being a “blended” family and his ex-wife having kept us in court for almost 4 years straight now. But we are definitely committed to one another and to our marriage. We are still hoping to have a child together and to build a house together – God willing, we will be able to. Our hardships have caused us to drift apart sometimes, but overall, the process of overcoming them and facing adversity together has brought us closer.

  3. Wow, Amanda! What a wonderful story!
